Da qui in poi tutto il lavoro svolto su Apophis era da considerarsi al limite della fantasia. Avendo bene in mente quello che dovevo costruire, anche se alcune cose non le avevo mai testate, ero sicuro che in un modo o nell’altro ci sarei riuscito, dovevo solo ricordare i particolari e trovare il modo giusto per inserirli nel progetto…
From this time onwards all the work done on Apophis was borderline imaginary. I had well in my mind what I was about to build, I had never tried a few things before but I was sure one way or another I would make it, if only I could well recall the details and find the right way to assemble them into the project…
Incominciai completando il monoscocca, che comprendeva il serbatoio, la sella ed il codino in un unico grande pezzo, il parafango anteriore ed il faro, ma sapevo che tutto quello che avrei fatto dopo, avrebbe estremizzato l’opera.
I started with finishing the shell including the tank, the saddle and the tail, all together as one unique big piece, than the front fender and the headlight, but I knew that all I would do afterwards would have taken the work to the extreme.
Avevo finalmente dato una forma al mostro, ed ero finalmente pronto a dargli carattere, facendo in modo che tutto combaciasse…
At last the monster had its shape and I was finally ready to give a personality to it so that everything would fit together…
Smontai di nuovo tutta la moto, era arrivato il momento di eliminare qualsiasi traccia “umana”, facendo sabbiare tutte le parti verniciate come il telaio, il forcellone posteriore e i cerchi.
I took the whole bike apart once more: the time had come to completely remove every human sign by sandblasting all varnished parts like the structure, the rear fork and the wheel rims.
Una volta fatto questo, rimontai tutto per ricominciare a lavorare.
Once all done, I put back everything together to restart the job.
Anche il motore ricevette lo stesso trattamento, venne smontato, sabbiato e poi lucidato.Tutto doveva andare nella stessa direzione, facendo sembrare che la moto fosse nata come un unico pezzo.
The engine got the same treatment too, it was taken apart, sandblasted and polished. Everything had to go in one same direction to pretend the bike was one and the same.
Rimanevano ancora delle piccole parti di gomma e plastica, ma da li a poco sarebbero sparite completamente.
There were still few small parts made of rubber and plastic, but in a short time they would have also totally disappeared.
