Subito dopo iniziai a dare una forma primitiva al monoscocca con un semplice tondino di acciaio da 4 mm, saldandolo insieme, calcolando le proporzioni e creando la linea base.
Right after I began shaping the shell into a primordial outline by means of a 4 mm rod steel, carefully calculating proportions, soldering all together and thus creating a baseline.
A questo punto giunse il momento di iniziare ad applicare la lamiera, lavorandola a mano con strumenti come ruota inglese, maglio pneumatico ed una quantità infinita di martelli…
The next step was the application of the metal sheet, through entirely manual operations using a wheeling machine, pneumatic power hammer and a wide variety of other hammers…
Saldando tutti i componenti a TIG e levigando le saldature facendole scomparire fino a risultare un pezzo unico…
All components were soldered together via the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) procedure and the weld joints smoothed until disappearing so as to result in a single piece…
Con la stessa tecnica iniziai a costruire anche il parafango anteriore e il faro, ma il primo evento a cui avrei partecipato si stava avvicinando. A Brescia stava iniziando Rombo di tuono e avendo deciso ti portare un’altra moto in esposizione, tra mille critiche decisi che, nonostante Apophis non fosse nemmeno a metà dell’opera, dovevo portare anche lei… decisi di lasciarla sul fondo dello stand avvolta da una rete metallica un po’ per “nasconderla”. Chi avrebbe mai detto che avrei fatto la scelta più giusta che potevo fare?
With the same technique I started building the fore fender and the headlight, but the first event I wanted to take part into was fast approaching: “Rombo di Tuono” was opening in Brescia. I had another bike ready for the exhibition, however despite all criticism and the fact that it wasn’t yet half way done, I decided to bring Apophis with me and left it in the far away corner of the stand, wrapped up in a wire mesh to hide it somehow. That was the best decision I could make, who would have ever said?
